New and vintageWith clothes sourced from vintage fairs and markets, there's bound to be something to please many a retro loving shopper at the Lucy in Disguise London shop. There's an international flavour to many of the designer clothes in the shop as well, with fashion brought in from Paris and the USA.
Lily Allen
She might be better known as a singer, but with the Lucy In Disguise London clothes shop, Lily Allen is making a further foray into the world of fashion, following a stint as a designer for New Look. Alongside all the vintage fashion on offer, a number of Lily's own designs will be available to buy.
Grand debut
Lily Allen's Lucy In Disguise London collection made its debut at the Vintage at Goodwood fashion fair in August 2010, ahead of the launch of a stand alone boutique in Covent Garden. Fashionistas also had the chance to get further sneak peek of what's in store at the shop during the Fashion's Night Out event, when the Selfridges Concept Store hosted a pop up shop curated by Lily Allen and Sarah Mary Owen.
Covent Garden store
The brand new shop in Covent Garden features everything from Alexander McQueen designs to the specially designed Lucy in Disguise t-shirt. Fashionistas can also have a drink at the all day vodka bar inside the store, and get styling advice from the staff.
The Lucy In Disguise London shop opened from Saturday 18th September 2010 at 10 - 13 King Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 8HN. Nearest tube: Covent Garden.

Great British Hairdresser - Zac makes TV Final
Zac Fennell, co-director of Artizan and stylist to Olympic Champion Amy Williams and members of the Bath Rugby team, is through to the final of the national TV show Great British Hairdresser.
Zac beat off stiff competition from stylists across the UK. Tension was mounting last night as the show’s contestants were told whether they had made it through to the final 10.
Zac says: “Getting through each heat was great but when we were down to the final 18 and my name was called out, I thought it was because I was out.
“I was so chuffed when they said I was through, then the reality hit me that my work was going to be judged each week in front of a huge TV audience! To begin with the pressure felt immense but James Brown and the other presenters were very encouraging. I then started to feel good about being in the show and to look forward to the opportunities that I would have.”
Zac continues: “I’m really grateful to my wife Becky who was so supportive about me being away from home. Although - as people will see in the show - I did miss Becky and my baby daughter Enya really badly. Working under that kind of pressure is hard at any time but much harder when you don’t have your family around you.
“What got me through the heats was being able to draw on a combination of ideas and techniques that we have used as Artizan stylists in some of the many shows and photo shoots that we’ve been involved in.
“It’s great now that the show is being aired, as the Artizan styling team get to see how they contributed towards my place in the final. No doubt, they’ll also be waiting to see if I crack under the pressure too!”
Artizan director and founder Phil Thompson says: “We’ve been really impressed by what we’ve seen from Zac so far in the show. He joined us as a Saturday boy when he was just 15, over 12 years ago. He always got on well with the staff here and was an instant hit with the ladies. To earn his place in the final during the show last night, Zac had to demonstrate his skills dressing a blond wig on a dark skinned model and to create a Mohawk inspired look.
Zac says: “It was a tough one really but I think I rose to the challenge. I managed to impress the judges with my Mohawk which James said he loved.” James later went on to say how Zac had inspired him as someone who will learn and work really hard.
Last night, the final 10 contestants were seen moving into James Brown’s London Salon. Each week, James and editor of Glamour magazine Jo Elvin will decide who will have to leave the salon following the results of a fashion-based challenge.

Great British Hairdresser
Great British Hairdresser Zac Fennell |
Top Artizan stylist and co-director Zac Fennel is through to the last heat – the last 18 contestants - of the national TV show Great British Hairdresser.
Being aired on E4 on Monday nights, Great British Hairdresser is a new ten-week series in which the country's top hair stylists compete to be crowned Great British Hairdresser by stylists to the stars and best friend of Kate Moss, James Brown.
Zac’s Artizan client list already includes England and Bath Rugby stars, and Olympic champion Amy Williams. He survived the first two heats of Great British Hairdresser, competing against hundreds of other stylists to earn his place amongst the final 18. Next week, he will compete for a place amongst the final 10. He says: “I'm passionate about hair and love my profession so I was delighted to get to the final 18. I'm easy going, taking things in my stride and love a challenge and being put under pressure.”
Zac clearly performed well in the judges eyes as shortly after last Monday’s show, James Brown was quoted on his blog, saying: “How much did you love Zac? He’s such a lovely man. He has a lot of passion for everything he does in life and that will take him a long way.”
Watch Zac next Monday at 10pm on E4 to see if he makes it through to the final 10 contestants; they will be housed together, while James Brown and editor of Glamour magazine Jo Elvin decide who can and who can't cut it at the top of the industry. To pile on the pressure further, James and Jo will invite their celebrity friends along to help. Watch out for Lily Allen, Dannii Minogue, Jaime Winstone, Sadie Frost and Vidal Sassoon.
James and Jo will whittle away the contestants through a series of fashion-based weekly challenges. Model Abbey Clancy co-presents the show, following contestants every step of the way as they battle it out to win the dream assignment: styling the hair of an A-list star for the cover of Glamour magazine plus a year working alongside their mentor James.
Every show is also packed with James's hair tips and trade secrets so that viewers can achieve signature hairstyles made famous by the likes of Kate Moss, Cheryl Cole and Brigitte Bardot.
